I don’t just teach it. I live it.
My name is Živa — I’m a Labrador Retriever breeder, Search & Rescue dog handler, and a devoted Lab lover. I also run a dog training school in Slovenia, where I work hands-on with dogs and their owners. This real-world experience shapes everything I share here at the Labrador Retriever Academy.
But most importantly, I’m someone who has shared her life with high-drive, enthusiastic Labradors — the kind that are as lovable as they are overwhelming.
Over the years, I’ve learned from some of the most respected names in the dog training and behavior world, blending their knowledge with my hands-on experience. But my education didn’t stop there — and it never will. I believe that to truly help dogs and their people, a trainer must stay curious, keep learning, and always evolve. Ongoing education is a big part of who I am and what I bring to every training plan I create.
Still, nothing has taught me more than my own incredibly challenging dog — the one who didn’t fit the typical “easy-going ” label. She pushed me to question everything I thought I knew, to dig deeper, and to develop better, more compassionate, and more effective ways to train. That experience changed everything — and it continues to shape how I teach today.
What truly drives me is a deep passion for letting dogs be dogs in a human world — and helping them thrive with all the demands we place on them. I believe dogs deserve more than just obedience; they deserve to be understood.
And that’s especially true for Labradors, a breed I care deeply about.
That’s why I’m a strong believer in breed-specific training.
